Over the past years, and since man acquired his pet, some choose to train a dog and make it his companion, while others choose a cute cat, but as a sign of curiosity igniting between the two groups, the question began to get asked. Are cats smarter than dogs, or vice versa?
Of course, dog owner and cat owners a like tried to praise their pets and say they’re smarter than the other, and trying to come up with some arguments, which were just funny to say the least.
But the wonder has come to end. Thanks to the study, the question is finally answered.
The reason being dogs smarter than cats, is that how much more cortical neurons dogs have in their brain over cats, these neurons make the pet think and plan and do complex behavior, and the overall intelligence of the pet.
For context dogs have about 530 million neurons, while cats have about 250 million which almost half what dogs have, on the other hand, the human brain packs 16 billion cortical neurons, almost 30 times dog neurons and 64 times cat’s, and that’s according to
a study by Vanderbilt.
In a study conducted by the researcher Suzana Herculano who’s an associate professor of psychology and biological sciences, the advantage dogs will have over cats thanks to their superior neuron number is they will the biological capability of doing much more complex and flexible things with their lives than cats can. According to her.
